From Bioenergy to Breathwork: Why I Let Go of One Healing Modality to Go Deeper with Another
For seven years, I offered Bioenergy Healing as part of my practice, learning a lot in the process. It was the first healing modality that gave me a way into the body without needing words. It felt like a gentle portal, a way to work with the subtle energy body when the nervous system wasn’t ready to process trauma out loud. It met me, and many of my clients, where we were: quietly, compassionately, and nonverbally.
So when I say I’ve decided to no longer offer Bioenergy sessions, it’s not because it didn’t work. It’s because something else called me even deeper—and I listened.
What I Loved About Bioenergy Healing
When I first came across Bioenergy Healing, I was drawn to its simplicity and how it supported deep shifts without force. I experienced firsthand how it could calm anxiety, soften pain, and create space where something new could arise. For those moments in life where words feel too sharp or too soon, Bioenergy was a soothing balm.
It was also my first offering that wasn’t focused on the physical body, as my work as a Massage Therapist had been—but instead on people’s desires to transform. It helped me learn how to listen and communicate gently and respectfully about what felt heavy for them, and what was surfacing through the work.
It was the modality that introduced me to subtle energy. I began to see the human challenges playing out at each chakra and the correlation between symptoms in that area. It helped me trust the invisible—the tingles, the waves, the knowing. I learned to listen with my hands and heart.
But something else arrived, quietly but powerfully, while I was in Bioenergy training.
Breathwork Entered My Life
It was during that same season of learning that I discovered conscious, connected Breathwork—and it changed everything.
Unlike the quiet, spacious subtlety of Bioenergy, Breathwork brought me into direct contact with my body’s intensity. It didn’t bypass discomfort; it brought it to the surface to acknowledge. It helped me feel. I learned to connect with sensations, emotions, and stuck energy through the breath, and to ride those waves with awareness instead of fear. I learned to stay instead of run.
It was during a combination of doing Bioenergy and Breathwork that childhood trauma surfaced, allowing me to finally begin shifting old patterns of shame and helplessness.
Breathwork didn’t just support healing, it empowered me to participate in it. It helped me remember that my body already knew what to do. I just had to get out of the way.
Why I Chose to Focus on Breathwork
As I deepened my personal and professional experience with Breathwork, I realized I had found the modality that aligned most with how I want to support people: in their own power, in their own body, with choice and presence.
From Interpretation to Inner Knowing
In Bioenergy sessions, clients would sometimes look to me to interpret their experience—asking, “What did you feel?” or “What did you see?” I was often seen as the one holding the insight, or even doing the work on their behalf, even though it truly is a co-creative process. That said, Bioenergy remains a beautiful modality for learning how to open and receive support from another.
In Breathwork sessions, the roles are naturally reversed. Clients are the ones speaking afterward, saying things like: “I felt this,” or “I saw this image,” or “That was intense—and I made it through.” I get to witness people becoming the experts of their own experience. It’s humbling and inspiring every time.
Every session allows me the freedom to sense when and how to offer guidance, and I’ve watched in awe as the breath repatterns itself exactly when it’s ready.
A Bridge Between the Tangible and Subtle
I’ve also found that speaking about the breath feels more accessible and relatable to many than speaking about energy or chakras. Breathwork creates a bridge between the tangible and the subtle—and in that way, it meets an awakening world right where it is.
The Magic of Breathing Together
I also love that Breathwork can be done in community. There’s a magic that happens when a room of people breathe together—a shared opening, deeper connection, and a collective softening.
What I Carry Forward
Even though I no longer offer Bioenergy Healing as a service, I carry its influence with me. That sensitivity to the energetic body, the capacity to witness someone in silence, the listening underneath the words—it’s all still with me. It shows up in how I guide Breathwork, how I offer Craniosacral Therapy and RMT, and how I sit with people in moments of tenderness and truth.
Ready to Breathe With Me?
If you’re seeking a way to come back to your body that’s both empowering and insightful, Breathwork might be the doorway.
Whether in private sessions or small group ceremonies, I offer a space where your breath can lead the way. You don’t need to have the right words or know what you’re healing. You just need the willingness to show up and breathe.
You are your own healer. I’m simply here to hold the space while you remember.
